Andrew Nelson, 23, Custer City Man,
Dies from Polio

Andrew Richard Nelson, 25, of Custer City, R.D., died of poliomyelitis at 10:30 o'clock Sunday morning in Bradford Hospital. He was stricken Thursday and taken to the hospital the following day.
Born in Rixford, June 10, 1927, Mr. Nelson attended the Otto Township schools and was drafted Into the Army during World War II. He served with the Military Police.
Following his discharge he was employed by the A&P stores for the past nine years. He was a member of the Rixford Evangelical United Brethren Church and the Sportsmen's Club.
Survivors Include his wife, the former Dorothy Rea whom he married March 22, 1948,
- a son, Gary Lynn Nelson, who was three years old Sunday;
- his parents, Mr. and Mrs. Andrew M. Nelson, Rixford;
two sisters,
- Mrs. Robert Titus, Sawyer City, and
- Mrs. Mary Dickinson, Buffalo;
and several nieces and nephews.

The body was removed to the Koch-Chatley Memorial Chapel in Bradford, where private funeral services were held Tuesday at 1:30 pm. The Rev. Norman McGarvey of Cyclone and the Rev. Clement Yinger of Bradford officiated.
- Interment was In Rose Hill Cemetery, Smethport.
