My dear wife and Friends at home
I thought that I would write a few lines to you this afternoon. I am well and hope this will find you the same.
_?_ we expect to leave here in the morning. We have got to go in a Battle soon I expect they are going to have a hard fight before long the most of the army.

MARRIED SEPT.13,1863. Civil war veteran. Company G, 8th Calvary. 56 NY Volunteers and 50 NY Engineers. Death due to cutting his foot, developed blood poisoning, and died in about 1 week. It occurred at a lumber camp near Dingman Run.
