MISS ETHEL G. THOMS.
Announcement his been made of the engagement ot Miss Ethel G. Thorns. daughter of Dr. and Mrs. Joseph C. Thorns ot 1280 Herkimer street, to Frank Fletcher, jr., youngest son of the Rev. and Mrs. Frank Fletcher of Plainfleld, N. J. Miss Thorns has boon quite prominent socially, and has a host ot friends, all ot whom will be surprised and pleased at this first announcement of her betrothal. Before her graduation from the Girls High School, in February, 1911; she was one of the most popular students, having distinguished herself Iff and art work. In which she Is markedly talented. During her school course she gained the nickname of "Peggy," and there were few schoolmates in Girls High School who didn't know who "Peggy" really was. Miss Thorns is an athletic girl, being a splendid swimmer, an expert diver and ennoist and a formidable opponent at tennis, as is her fiance. The couple met during a summer vacation at Atlantic Highlands, where a mutual interest In athletics iirst brought them together. Miss Thorns, who Is also a sUillf nl pianist, is completing a course various ways, especially In Bketchius iu art at the Pratt Institute
