Robert Herbstritt There was one of those "leaf" icons on your father's profile in my family tree. When I clicked on it, it was a link to his high school year book.

I love the Beaver Cleaver language. "He was a swell boy" ????. My Dad is more blondish than I expected.

Robert Herbstritt Yeah, you could almost hear Ward Cleaver saying that :)

That must have been about 1949 or 1950. He probably started 1st grade in 1937 since he was born in November.

I didn't realize that his father died when he was just 12 years old.

Yes. Lloyd was working the night shift at General Electric I believe during the war. The story is that he caught pneumonia that winter and the doctor said he could have saved him if he had had penicillin. Unfortunately all depends selling was being shipped overseas during the war. So, in a way, he was another casualty of the second World War. Interesting Lake, Floyd was on the short side which I saw on his death certificate. I think he was only something like 5-foot 5. My dad's around 6 foot

Robert Herbstritt The picture in the yearbook is how I remembered Larry from the times the whole family would get together. Mostly reunions and funerals.

The yearbook page, according to ancestry, anyway, is 1950, which puts him at age 20. He must have taken time out to work for the war effort, having been too young to enlist during the war.
