FORT WETZEL
John Wetzel and sons, Lewis,
Jacob, Martin, John and George
came with the Zanes in 1769
and built a fort. The Wetzels
became famous as scouts and
Indian fighters. In 1787, the
elder Wetzel was killed by
Indians at Baker's Station.
