• TIED TO A TREE FEUDIST LEFT TO FREEZE AND DIE
Louisville, February 23.-(Special.)- According to a dispatch from Louisa, Ky., Tom Hatfield, the famous feudist, who was caught by enemies in the mountains near Trigg river, in West Virginia two weeks ago, bound to a tree and left to die of exposure, died today at a hospital at Louisa. He was found by a traveler and brought to Louisa from West Virginia. Hatfield was a member of the Hatfield clan in the famous Hatfield-McCoy feud and had killed several men, it was said.
Both legs had to be amputated and several fingers were so badly frozen that they dropped off.
The Hatfield clan is up in arms and is vowing vengeance. Tom Hatfield did not recover sufficiently to tell who the men were who captured and bound him.
