Sergeant Said Killed In Action
SHINGLEHOUSE-- Technical Sergeant Francis Howard Russell, twenty-four-year-old ball turret gunner on a Flying Fortress, killed in action June 10 in England, according to word received Wednesday from the War Department by his mother, Mrs Gertrude Russell of this place. His father was the late William E. Russell.
A 1939 graduate of Shinglehouse High School, Sgt. Russell entered service in September of that year and went overseas in April, 1944. He was a member St. Theresa's Church here.
Surviving besides his mother are two brothers
- the Rev. Bernard M. Russell. C. S. V.. of Springfield, ILL., and
- Lloyd R. Russell of Pueblo, Colo.
