V. DIADAMA HYDE (310), born at Norwich, Conn., 10 Dec., 1740, the youngest daughter of the Rev. Jebediah Hyde (46) by his first wife, Sarah Perkins, was a granddaughter of William Hyde (6) of the third generation.
She m. 27 Dec., 1761, Dr. Benjamin Butler, b. 21 April 1739, at Windham, Conn., the third son of Thomas Butler and Abigail Craft of Windham.

[Thomas Butler and Daniel Butler came to Windham, from Massachusetts. Thomas m. 9 March 1732 Abigail Craft, and had by her four children:
- Thomas, b. 23 June 1734,
- Eleazer, b. 24 Sept, 1736,
- Benjamin, b. 21 April 1739,
- Abigail, b. 10 Jan 1744.
His wife d. 11 Jan 1744, the day after the birth of her daughter.
He then m. 7 Feb 1745 Deborah Meacham of Windham, who d. 3
p.118
March 1749, s.p.
He then m. 19 June 1749 Thankful Luce and had by her five children:
- Mary b. 20 Sept 1750,
- Deborah, b. 20 March 1752,
- William, b. 27 Jan 1754,
- Hannah, b. 2 Feb 1756, and
- Sarah, b. 14 March 1760.]

Benjamin Butler and his wife settled at Norwich.
He was a physician, and a man of great wit and humor.
She d. 18 Sept 1777 at Norwich.
Their children were:
1331. Benjamin, b. 30 Jan 1764 at Norwich, m. Hannah Avery+
1332. Thomas, b. 30 March 1769 at Norwich, m. Sarah Denison.+
1333. Jerusha, b. 8 Sept 1762 at Norwich, m. Gideon Denison.+
1334. Rosamond, b. 26 Dec 1766 at Norwich, d. 5 May 1783.
1335. Minerva, b. 10 April 1771 at Norwich, d. 25 April 1784.

After the death of his first wife, he m. 3 Feb 1784 Ruth Huntington, b. 1735, daughter of Peter Huntington and Ruth Edgerton, but had no issue by her.
He d. 17 June 1789 at Norwich.

V. APPHIA HYDE (312), born at Norwich, Conn 29 Sept 1757, the eldest daughter of the Rev. Jedediah Hyde (46) of Norwich, by his second wife, Jerusha Tracy (598), was a granddaughter of William Hyde (6) of the third generation. She m 9 Feb 1780 Capt. Samuel Cardell, b 27 Aug 1748, at New London, son of William Cardell of New London, by his second wife, Elizabeth Burch. They settled at Bozrah, and he was lost at sea, 13 Jan 1781.
Their only child was:
1336. William Samuel, b 27 Nov 1780 at Bozrah, m. Clementia Rogers.+
After the death of her first husband, she m. 29 May 1782 Benjamin Walworth, b 11 Nov 1746 at Groton, Conn, the youngest son of Capt. John Walworth and Sarah Dunn of Groton, and grandson of William Walworth and Mary Seaton.

[This William Walworth came to New London about 1689, from the neighborhood of London, England, at the request of Gen. Fitz John Winthrop, for the purpose of introducing English farming upon Fisher's Island, then owned by Winthrop. Soon after his arrival he married Mary Seaton, who came out in the same vessel with him.
