Huntington, WVa, Feb 1--
Mrs. Elizabeth Chafin Hatfield, mother of Dr. Henry D. Hatfield, died today at the age of 89. Mrs. Hatfield was a member of a family long prominent in the history and development of Southern West Virginia and Eastern Kentucky Her son, a distinguished surgeon, is head of Huntington Memorial Hospital A Republican, he served as Governor of West Virginia from 1912 to 1926 and as United States Senator from 1928 to 1934.
Also surviving are another son, Greenway Hatfield of Mingo County, and a daughter, Mrs. Edna White of Ohio.
