Major Edward Nelson Stebbins, Sr., as a young officer, was one of the honor guards in the White House guarding the remains of President Abraham Lincoln. He was also a witness to the burial of John Wilkes Booth. Edward ran a mercantile business in the 1880's in Coudersport (apparently next to the post office.) I think Jessie, in this photo, posted last July by Lanny Nunn, is Edward and Mary Treat Clapp Stebbins' daughter.

This picture was probably taken in the 1880's, per above. A decade later, the post office apparently took over the entire store front, flanked by lawyers' offices, as in this photo, posted by Lanny Nunn last June among others, featuring mail carriers:
