Harvey N. Snyder, Nestor of the Armstrong County Bar, passed away at his home on Queen street Friday morning at six o'clock. The end was not unexpected by immediate relatives and friends. Mr. Snyder had been in failing health for the greater part of the past two years and had not engaged in the practice of his profession since March 1927. He was nevertheless able to be out and around at his home and in good weather enjoyed morot rides. For several days he had not been as well as usual and had been confined to bed since Wednesday.
Mr. Snyder was born September 29, 1846, in Brady township, Butler county. He was a son of Zephaniah and Rachel (kennedy) Snyder, grandson of Conrad Snyder, and great-grandson of Conrad Snyder, Sr., the founder of the Snyder family in Pennsylvania. Mr. snyder attended public school in his native township, later going to the academy at Prospect, Butler county, and still later to Witherspoon Institute at Butler. Following this he bagan the study of law under the direction of Col. John M. Thompson and was admitted to the Bar of Butler county in 1871 and to the bar of Armstrong county in 1873. He served as a deputy sheriff in Butler county for a period of three years. Following his removal to Armstrong county, Mr. Snyder was elected twice to the office of district attorney, first in 1891(?) and again in 1904.
In 1873 Mr. Snyder married Frances E. Zeigler of Mercer county who preceded him in death on last Easter morning. He is survived by the following children:

- Mrs. Mary Frances Snyder,
- Miss Marguerite Snyder,
- Homer H. Snyder,
- George Philip snyder, who was associated with his father in the practice of law, and
- Renard Z. Snyder.
Mr. Snyder for years was a prominent figure in the several courts of Armstrong county. His clientele was general in character but he was probably best known as a criminal lawyer and as such was usually retained by one side of the other in every important caase tried in Quarter Sessions. He was what is familiearly termed in legal parlance as "a fighter" and once his interest was aroused in a cause he gave him-
