Hi Dale,
The only Martin I have was born in 1849.
His sister, Martha Matilda (Mattie) HATFIELD was my 2nd gr-grandmother.
So It’s probably just a matter of filling in more of the family, which is a lot of what I spend a lot of time doing, but my focus is on a different part of the family right now.
But that is certainly how Carol and I are related.

I’ve also done AncestryDNA, which is pretty good for autosomal results, but not as detailed as FTDNA.
I hope to connect later down the HATFIELD line,

Dear Mr. Wetzel,
It appears my wife Carol Foster Dechenne has a good mtDNA match with you. I am new at the DNA approach to genealogy, so I haven't yet figured out how to best utilize this approach. However I have been doing genealogy on my ancestors and Carol's ancestor's since the 1970's. I have looked at your tree and at what I have found for Carol. The common surname is Hatfield. I don't see a definite connection yet. I have traced her Hatfield ancestor back to John Martin Hatfield, Sr. born 4-Dec-1800 and married to Phoebe Coddington. I have attached a more detailed file that shows his family and more detail. Hopefully there will be a connection with some of information in your genealogy. If not but the area is the same, perhaps we can find a connection. Looking forward to hearing from you.
