Fordyce “Al” Reese, Sr., of Coudersport , PA
Fordyce “Al” Reese, Sr., of Coudersport died at home surrounded by his loving family on November 09, 2011.
He was born December 21, 1934 in Coudersport, the son of Howard and Doris (Fessenden) Reese.
He attended Austin area schools.
On September 5, 1958 he married Rosemarie Greitl in Munich, Germany.
Mr. Reese was a Sergeant (E-5) with the US Army serving ten years with the 82nd, 11th Division, 101st Airborne, 8th Infantry Division, 15th Supply and Service Company, and the 1st Cavalry Division, and was a paratrooper during the Vietnam War.
After being honorably discharged from the US Army he worked at the former ARCO and SKAT stations in Coudersport, and the Coudersport Theater. He retired from Pure Carbon (Morgan AM & T) after thirty one years of service. He especially enjoyed bowling, hunting, fishing, watching Steelers football, model trains, and spending time with his family, especially his grandchildren and great grandchildren.
Mr. Reese is survived by
- his loving wife of 53 years Rosemarie, of Coudersport, as well as
- three sons
-- Erhard (Wanda Long) Reese of Galeton, PA,
-- David (Susan) Reese of Coudersport, PA,
-- Fordyce “Al” (Angela) Reese, Jr. of Coudersport, PA, and
- four daughters
-- Roswitha (Donnie Wilson) Reese of Newpark, PA
-- Loretta (Frank) Battaglia of Oakfield NY,
-- Ellen (Larry) Goodwin of Coudersport, PA, and
-- Mary (Donny) Arrowood of Clarksville, Arkansas.
He is also survived by seventeen grandchildren
with two grandsons serving in the US Army,
- Kenneth Ruby, currently deployed in Iraq, and
- Justin Crowley, an Iraq and Afghanistan veteran currently serving at Hunter Army Air Base in Savannah, Georgia.
He is also survived by twenty three great grandchildren.
He was predeceased by his parents and
two brothers,
- Charles Reese and
- Gordon Reese.
Visitation will be Sunday, November 13, 2011 from 2 to 4 pm and 6 to 8 pm at the Fickinger Funeral Home, Coudersport. The funeral will be held on Monday, November 14, 2011 at 11 am at the funeral home with
- burial at the Reesville Cemetery in Costello to follow with full military honors.
Memorials can be made to the Coudersport Volunteer Fire Department Ladies Auxiliary, c/o Susan Reese, 349 Route 6 West, Coudersport, PA 16915, or to a charity of the donor’s choice.

Rosemarie, I will always remember Fordyce for his quiet, gentle nature. Always enjoyed our conversations when he stopped by my home office twice a year. God's blessings to you and your family.

Fordyce Allen 'Al' Reese, Jr., age 44 of Coudersport, PA
Fordyce Allen 'Al' Reese, Jr.
Fordyce Allen 'Al' Reese, Jr., age 44, of Coudersport, PA passed away on Monday, January 29, 2018, at his residence surrounded by his loving family.
Allen was born on March 9, 1973 in Coudersport, the youngest child of Fordyce 'Al' and Rosemarie Grietl Reese, Sr.
He shared his love of the Pittsburgh Steelers and both he and his father were avid fans, and was a supporter of Matt Kenseth in NASCAR circles.
He enjoyed fishing, working with model trains, and roller skating. He was an accomplished Christmas light decorator.
Allen was a graduate of Coudersport Area High School. Allen was employed by Adelphia Communications, Wending Creek Farms, Magic Valley Skateland, Seal's Pro Hardware, and a founding member of Reesecreations, where his vision, artistry, and creativity were a tremendous asset to the family business.
He was an accomplished woodworker, and created many beautiful items for his family.
He was a life member of the Coudersport Volunteer Fire Department where he served for 18 years as a firefighter, rescue squad member, executive committee member, and participated in fundraising, building and grounds, equipment and apparatus, and numerous other activities, especially flipping chickens. He was voted Firefighter of the Year by his peers in 1996, 2000, and 2001, and Rescue Squad Member of the Year in 2012.
Allen was survived by
- his mother, Rosemarie Reese, of Coudersport, PA,
- his lifelong love, Angela Reese,
his children
- Alyssa and
- Ayden Reese, who he loved and adored,
brothers
- Erhard (Wanda Long) Reese, of Ulysses, PA and
- David (Susan) Reese of Coudersport, Pa,
sisters
- Rose (Donnie) Wilson, of New Park, PA,
- Loretta Battaglia (late Frank), of Spring Hill, Florida,
- Ellen (Larry) Goodwin, of Coudersport, PA and
- Marie (Donny) Arrowood, of Coudersport, PA,
15 nieces and nephews, and many great-nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his father and
two brother-in-laws,
- Frank Battaglia and
- Ken Ruby.
Friends and family are invited to Allen's Life Celebration Sunday, February 4, 2018 at the Thomas E. Fickinger Funeral Home, 210 North East Street, Coudersport, PA with a visitation from 12pm-2pm, funeral service to follow at 2pm, Pastor Scott Ogden officiating. Please feel free to wear your Steelers apparel.
- Burial will be in the Reesville Cemetery.
Memorials may be made to the Coudersport Volunteer Ambulance Association, 112 E. 2nd Street, Coudersport, PA 16915 or a charity of the donor's choice.
