- Some facts about Roderick Corey
Posted by LARRY HERBSTRITT
Roderick contracted polio as a child. According to Roderick's brother, Paul, back then they isolated people with polio and Roderick was sent away and did not come back until he was 7 years old. His recovery from the polio was partial, leaving him with a permant pronounced limp.
It was said that Roderick was the kind of person that "everyone liked when you met him. He was a very happy person."
He became close friends with Claud Snyder, sister of Dorothy Snyder Herbstritt. According to Clifton "Kippie" Saulter and his wife, Shirley Snyder Saulter, they would often get together with Claud, Roderick "Dife", Nola, wife of Claud, at the home of Dorothy to play cards. At some point an affair developed between Roderick and Dorothy. As a result, Roderick's only child, Debrah, was born in 1958.
Some time later, he left Pennsylvania to live with Mabel (last name unknown) to live in Arizona. Returning to Pennsylvania after that, Roderick took a job at a golf course near Pittsburgh, PA.
Roderick was badly injured while operating a riding lawnmower accident on the golf course. In an unsucsessful attempt at leaping from the riding mower, his legs were badly injured by the blades. He was hospitalized and later died from a staph infection.
Roderick died never knowing of his only child.

Was it Sandra, who is actually your half sister?
Debbie. We're reasonably sure her father was Roderick Corey. That would explain Jack Halloran's son Casey showing up as her 3rd cousin the share the same 2nd great grandparents, Isaac & Mary Klesa Mitchell. The Coreys have Roberts in their ancestry.
Roderick Corey's mother was Lida Roberts married to Glen Corey

Hey John,
Have you continued investigating your genealogy?
I'm waiting for the results of the Y-DNA 111 test I did with FTDNA
I don't remember if I told you that I solved my sister's mystery father.
She is the daughter of my mother and Roderick "Dife" Corey.
A niece of Roderick, Linda Corey, got the results of her 23andMe DNA test and she shows as my sister's 1st cousin.
I have tracked her Corey ancestry and discovered that she is a Roberts even more than me.
Her grandmother was Lida Roberts Corey. She was married to Glenn Corey. Lida's great grandfather was Samuel Roberts.
