Amelia was born Frederikke Bernhardine Amalia Suhr in Nysted, Maribo Denmark.
The family arrived in America the day before her 1st birthday.
Her parents bought a home in NYC which they ran as a boarding house.
Between 1850 and 1860 they relocated to Potter County, Pa.
In 1872 she and husband George Wrean and their three daughters moved to Illinois to farm land they bought there.
Four more children arrived -
- Howard in 1876,
- Otto in 1878,
- James in 1882, and
- Bessie in 1885.
She lost her husband suddenly at quite a young age, followed by the loss of Otto and Bessie in a diphtheria outbreak three years later.

His stone reads N.B.A. SUHR and cemetery records show there is a GAR designation on it.
Nelse Bernhard Abraham Suhr - Civil War Vet - GAR
It is not known what Nelse did in the war, as he was fifty-seven when it began, but possibly he was baking bread for the troops, being that he had been a Master Baker with his own business in Denmark before coming to America.
He is listed as a farmer with a large holding in all censuses.
