ULYSSES, Pa. - Donna McCaslin, 87, of Ulysses died Friday (July 5, 2013) in the Gatehouse Hospice Unit, Williamsport.
Born Dec. 1, 1925, in Raymond, she was a daughter of Preston A. and Minnie Mosch Erway.
She was a 1943 graduate of Lewisville Vocational School in Ulysses. On June 30, 1944, in Tullahoma, Tenn., she married Leroy G. McCaslin, who predeceased her Aug. 19, 2001.
She and her husband owned and operated Ulysses Motors, where she was the bookkeeper and a school bus driver until their retirement in 1989. She was employed as a teachers' aide in the Northern Potter School District for 17 years.
Donna was a member of the Ulysses United Methodist Church, serving as pianist, organist, choir director and lay speaker for more than 50 years. She also was a member of the Tri-Town Volunteer Firemen's Auxiliary and the Order of the Eastern Star 95 in Ulysses, and a charter member of Carl E. Hyde American Legion Post 963 Auxiliary in Ulysses. She was honored as Ulysses Citizen of the Year in 1991.
Civic- and community-minded, she served as mayor of Ulysses for 26 years and as president of the Ulysses Area Improvement Association for many years.
Surviving are six children, Nancy (Gary) Miller of Dover, Linda (Thomas) Wilcox of Corning, N.Y., Sally Carpenter of Rural Hall, N.C., Brenda (Greg) Shank of Carlisle, Jerry (Kathy) McCaslin of Ulysses and Ronda (Robert Delsf) White of Coudersport; nine grandchildren; 12 great-grandchildren; two brothers, Eugene (Sally) Erway of Selbyville, Del., and Dale E. (Pearl) Erway of Genesee; two sisters, Rita (Robert) Barnett of Columbus, Ohio, and Doris (Dale) Nichols of Elizabethtown; and nieces and nephews.
In addition to her husband, she was predeceased by a grandson, Dean Shank; and a brother, Preston M. Erway.
Friends may call Tuesday from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. at the United Methodist Church, Ulysses, where funeral services will be held on Wednesday (July 10, 2013) at 11 a.m. An Eastern Star service will be held 4:15 p.m. Tuesday in the church. The Rev. Robert Anderson and the Rev. Nettie Treat will co-officiate. Burial will be in Ulysses Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the United Methodist Church, Ulysses, PA 16948.
Arrangements are entrusted to the Olney Funeral Home & Cremation Service, Ulysses.

ULYSSES, Pa. - Donna McCaslin, 87, of Ulysses died Friday (July 5, 2013) in the Gatehouse Hospice Unit, Williamsport.
Born Dec. 1, 1925, in Raymond, she was a daughter of Preston A. and Minnie Mosch Erway.
She was a 1943 graduate of Lewisville Vocational School in Ulysses. On June 30, 1944, in Tullahoma, Tenn., she married Leroy G. McCaslin, who predeceased her Aug. 19, 2001.
She and her husband owned and operated Ulysses Motors, where she was the bookkeeper and a school bus driver until their retirement in 1989. She was employed as a teachers' aide in the Northern Potter School District for 17 years.
Donna was a member of the Ulysses United Methodist Church, serving as pianist, organist, choir director and lay speaker for more than 50 years. She also was a member of the Tri-Town Volunteer Firemen's Auxiliary and the Order of the Eastern Star 95 in Ulysses, and a charter member of Carl E. Hyde American Legion Post 963 Auxiliary in Ulysses. She was honored as Ulysses Citizen of the Year in 1991.
Civic- and community-minded, she served as mayor of Ulysses for 26 years and as president of the Ulysses Area Improvement Association for many years.

Hyde American Legion Post 963 Auxiliary in Ulysses. She was honored as Ulysses Citizen of the Year in 1991.
Civic- and community-minded, she served as mayor of Ulysses for 26 years and as president of the Ulysses Area Improvement Association for many years.
Surviving are six children, Nancy (Gary) Miller of Dover, Linda (Thomas) Wilcox of Corning, N.Y., Sally Carpenter of Rural Hall, N.C., Brenda (Greg) Shank of Carlisle, Jerry (Kathy) McCaslin of Ulysses and Ronda (Robert Delsf) White of Coudersport; nine grandchildren; 12 great-grandchildren; two brothers, Eugene (Sally) Erway of Selbyville, Del., and Dale E. (Pearl) Erway of Genesee; two sisters, Rita (Robert) Barnett of Columbus, Ohio, and Doris (Dale) Nichols of Elizabethtown; and nieces and nephews.
In addition to her husband, she was predeceased by a grandson, Dean Shank; and a brother, Preston M. Erway.
Friends may call Tuesday from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. at the United Methodist Church, Ulysses, where funeral services will be held on Wednesday (July 10, 2013) at 11 a.m. An Eastern Star service will be held 4:15 p.m. Tuesday in the church. The Rev. Robert Anderson and the Rev. Nettie Treat will co-officiate. Burial will be in Ulysses Cemetery.

ULYSSES, Pa. - Donna McCaslin, 87, of Ulysses died Friday (July 5, 2013) in the Gatehouse Hospice Unit, Williamsport.
Born Dec. 1, 1925, in Raymond, she was a daughter of Preston A. and Minnie Mosch Erway.
She was a 1943 graduate of Lewisville Vocational School in Ulysses. On June 30, 1944, in Tullahoma, Tenn., she married Leroy G. McCaslin, who predeceased her Aug. 19, 2001.
