Record for Asa Beardsley Hall
Asa's namesake and other information
Asa's middle name was "Beardsley". However, David misspelled it in the bible as "Beardslie." Hezekiah Beardsley was a New Haven doctor, that David and Ann knew mostly likely, who died in 1790. I believe that they wanted Asa to be a doctor, and I believe he was later in life. Military records seem to indicate that he was a surgeon during the same period Cyrus was also in the army. Another military document shows him as the chief surgeon in a transfer to another army fort. And, if that's not enough... ;-) in the Rochester directories, it's noted that Asa lived (boarded) at the City Hospital for many years. I also suspect that he was also doctoring for the Union Army during the Civil War, thus the absence from his wife during the time period.
