Corning Girl, Who Has Been Missing, Reported Married
Corning, Jan. 23 (P) Miss Laura Carpenter, daughter of Mr. and Mrs, Marion Carpenter, of Ulysses, Pa., who disappeared for a second time about Christmas, at her home, and who was traced to Wellsville, was married on January 7 at Olean to Mark H. Young of Battle Creek, Mich., according to advices received here.
The couple was married by Miss Ethel Johnson, a justice of the peace, assistant to Justice George A. Larkln of Olean, on the same day they secured a marriage license. The couple stated that the girl's father opposed to the match but declared they were of age.
Miss Carpenter, a student at Summer school at Mansfield Normal, Mansfield, Pa., disappeared last Summer from Elmira and no trace was heard of her until about Christmas, when she returned home with the young man friend. He disappeared and a few days later she left. They were traced to Wellsville, where the girl's rubbers were found in'a railroad station. From that point nothing more was learned of the couple until it became known 'that they had been married. Their present whereabouts are unknown..
