Christian Hirschi, b. 1627, Schangnau, Bern. d. after 1682, Friedelsheim, Bayern, Germany. He was a Swiss Anabaptist refugee, age 45 living at Friedelsheim, Bayern, Germany on 6 April 1672 with his wife Anna Rehs (b. 1623) age 49 years. "They have three children still in Switzerland". They received 1 mattress, clothing for both, 2 sheets, 2 shirts and were paid money for debt of acquired land from the Dutch Mennonites. He probably lived at Schangnau, Bern, Switzerland. He was listed as one of the tenants at Friedelsheim on 26 Jun 1672. He was listed as a tenant Friedelsheim on 30 Dec 1682. He was mentioned as Anabaptist at Schangnau, Bern in 1672. See Family "A".
1. [?] Elisabeth Hirschi, b. c1650, Schangnau. She married Michael Kaufman, son of Michael and Anna (Brändli) Kaufmann at Steffisburg on 26 Feb 1668. Michael's brothers were Anabaptists and he may well have been one also. Michael was probably the Michael Kaufman who was called an Anabaptist from Friedelsheim when he was buried at Baldenheim, Alsace in 1692.
2. Christian Hirschi, b. c1661, Schangnau. He was probably the Christian Hirschi who was a tenant listed at Friedelsheim, Bayern on 20 Dec 1699, 27 Feb 1708 and 23 Oct 1715. He arrived in Philadelphia in August of 1717 with his two younger sons and one daughter and a large group of Mennonites. In his undated will which is located at Chester County, Pennsylvania, Christian left 500 acres of land to his widow "Ati Sheli" and his children "Bennadick Herse, Andreass Herse and Anna Herse". His wife was probably named Adelheit Schöli, the daughter of the Anabaptist Benedict Schöli who lived at Friedelsheim, Bayern in 1672 and 1692.
21. Christian Hershey, b. 1692. d. 1745, Lancaster County, Pennsylvania. He was listed as a tenant of the Munchhof at Friedelsheim on 28 Jul 1737. On the tenant list for Friedelsheim on 9 Apr 1739 it stated that Christian Lichti took the part of Christian Herschi. Apparently Christian sold his farm to Lichti in January of 1739 when he left for Pennsylvania. He arrived in Philadelphia on the ship "Robert & Alice" on 3 Sep 1739. He was married to Esther Egli, probably the daughter of Abraham Egli of Branchweilerhof, Germany. Christian and Esther settled at Mannheim Township, Lancaster County. Lancaster County deed X-551 dated 1773 and recorded in 1784 shows that Benjamin died by 1773 and the deed shows three generations of the family starting with Christian and his wife Oade.

Hans apparently took over the lease of the Munchhof at Friedelsheim in 1717, when Christian Hirschi (b. c1661) left for Pennsylvania. However, Christian Hirschi, the son of Christian Hirschi (b. c1661) was in possession of the farm in 1737. Perhaps Hans left for Pennsylvania with his probable two sons in about 1723 and either died on the voyage or did not purchase any lands in Pennsylvania, already being age about 60 years in 1723. If he did arrive in Pennsylvania he probably lived with his sons on their land in Hempfield Township.
