Vernon R. Karhan
Vernon R. Karhan, 65, of Coudersport died Wednesday (May 12, 1976) in Cole Memorial Hospital following a short illness.
- Born at Coudersport on June 9, 1910, he was a son of John and Wilhelmina Bolich Karhan.
- On April 2, 1949 at Wiliiamsport he married the former Marguriete Ellis, who survives.
Mr. Karhan had been a resident of Blossburg prior to moving to Coudersport in 1953.
In Coudersport he was the former manager of Consolidated Water Company. He was a member of St. Eulalia's Catholic Church;
a veteran of WW II, serving in the Army; and he was a member of the Potter Post 192, American Legion.
Surviving, in addition to his widow, are his mother, of Carter Camp;
- a son, Vernon R. Karhan Jr., Coudersport;
four daughters,
- Mrs. Phillip (Cassandra) Blow, Juneau, Alaska,
- Mrs. Eugene (Valerie) Staiger Jr. and
- Miss Vickie Karhan, both of Coudersport and
- Miss Margo Karhan, Stroudsburg;
four grandchildren;
two brothers,
- Vince Karhan, Germania and
- Victor Karhan, Carter Camp; and
two sisters,
- Miss Leonore Karhan, Carter Camp and
- Mrs. Clifton (Doris) Inscho, Pine City, N.Y.
Friends were received at the Grabe-Fickinger Funeral Home where the Rosary was recited at 8:00 p.m. Thursday. A Mass of the Resurrection was celebrated Friday at 11:00 a.m. at the St. Eulalia Catholic Church, with the Rev. W. Robert Griffin, pastor, officiating. Partial military rites were conducted by members of Potter Post 192.
- Burial was in Germania Cemetery.
