Obituary
Marjorie M. Austin Stebbins, 68, of Shinglehouse, formerly of Coudersport and Wellsville, N.Y., died on Sunday, Sept. 12, 2010, in her home after suffering an apparent heart attack.
She was born on Nov. 14, 1941, in Blossburg, she was a daughter of Glenn and Verna McGibney Butler.
On Jan. 27, 1962, in Coudersport, she married Harold L. Austin, who died on Aug. 13, 1997.
On May 24, 2003 in Wellsville, she married Kenneth I. Stebbins, who survives.
Mrs. Stebbins was a graduate of Coudersport High School.
She, along with her first husband, owned and operated a dairy farm for many years. Marge also worked at Adelphia Communications in Coudersport until her retirement.
She was a former member of the Milk Marketing Inc. Co-op. She enjoyed gardening and crocheting. She loved flowers. Her greatest love was her family.
She is survived by her husband;
- three sons,
- Kenneth E. (Michelle) Austin,
- James G. (Amy) Austin, and
- Thomas L. Austin, all of Shinglehouse;
seven grandchildren;
two stepsons,
- Richard K. (Connie) Stebbins of Natick, Mass. and
- Rodney L. Stebbins of Scio, N.Y.;
seven step-grandchildren;
- a sister, Mary (Gary) Chilson of Coudersport;
and several nieces and nephews.
In addition to her parents and first husband, Mrs. Stebbins was predeceased by
three brothers,
- Richard Gleason,
- James Butler, and
- Sonny Butler;
- a sister, Marie Brown;
- a stepson, Russell A. Stebbins.
Friends may call at the Virgil L. Howard Funeral Home, 118 South Union Street, Shinglehouse, PA, today, Wednesday, Sept. 15, 2010, from 9 to 11 a.m. at which time funeral services will be held. The Rev. Russell J. Horning, pastor of the First Baptist Church, Shinglehouse, will officiate.
- Burial will be in the Bell Run Cemetery, Shinglehouse.
Flowers are gratefully declined and will be provided by the family. Memorials in Marge's name may be made to the Shinglehouse Volunteer Ambulance Association, PO Box 98, Shinglehouse, PA 16748.
