Cards are out announcing the marriage of Miss Marjorie Helen Hammond and J. Howard Gates, which took place in Naples, N. Y., Aug. 7, with the Rev. Roland H. Cortright, pastor of the Methodist Church, officiating. Mrs. Gates is a daughter of Mrs. Leroy Hammond and the late Mr. Hammond of Austin. She received her education in the Austin schools and for some time has been employed in the grocery store of W. D. Gates and Son. Mr. Gates is the older son of Mr. and Mrs. W. D. Gates, and shortly after the death of his uncle, Harrison Gates, entered into partnership with his father, changing the old firm name of Gates Bros., to W. D. Gates & Son. He is an alumnus of Coudersport High School and of Allegany College, Meadville. Mr. and Mrs. Gates have rented the attractive modern home of Russell Mosher on Park avenue, where they will make their home. They have the best wishes of their many friends. ALLEN IN JAIL John A. Allen, Roulette, is serving 74 days in the county jail for possessing seven green muskrat skins. He was committed by Justice Coleman Smith. Mr. and Mrs. O. H. Chapin returned last Wednesday from Windber, where they were called by the death of Mrs. Chapin's brother.
