Fred C. Ernst, one of the oldest and most respected residents of Sartwell Creek, passed away May 31, 1930. He was born in Hason Castle (Hessen-Kassel), Germany, April 5, 1848, being 82 years, one month and 25 days old at the time of his death. He was the youngest son of the late Tobias C. and Anna Elizabeth Smith Ernst, and at the age of five years, he with his parents and only brother sailed for this country, his birthday occurring while upon the water. Fred C. Ernst, one of the oldest and most respected residents of Sartwell Creek, passed away May 31, 1930. He was born in Hason Castle (Hessen-Kassel), Germany, April 5, 1848, being 82 years, one month and 25 days old at the time of his death. weeks. Upon reaching this country, the family moved to Sartwell Creek where his father purchased a farm, where the deceased has lived adjoining farms with his brother, for 66 years. His brother William H. Ernst preceeded him in death on October 11, 1923.
On July 4, 1880 he was united in marriage to Lydia f. Lehman, to this union four children being born. Two died in infancy and Fred C. Ernst who resides at the old homestead and Irma A. Eckert of roulette who with the widow survive him; also five grandchildren, Frankie, June and Jane Ernst and Florence and Charley Eckert.
Funeral services were held at the Sartwell Creek church, June 3rd, words of comfort being spoken by Rev. Chas. Lee of Chandlers Valley, PA, assisted by Rev. Howard Duell of the home church.
The floral offerings showed the esteem in which the deceasesd was held.
Mr. Ernst was a charter member of Burtville Grange, No. 1281.
